A smile makeover treatment improves your smile through having one or more cosmetic dentistry procedures performed. These cosmetic dentistry procedures include cosmetic tooth bonding, dental veneers, Invisalign, and teeth whitening. All of these treatments will improve the look of your smile and instill confidence in your oral health.
Dental Veneers: Covering And Restoring Your Damaged Teeth
One way that your smile can be made over is to have veneers placed over your imperfect teeth. Dental veneers are super-thin covers that are bonded to your teeth to improve your appearance and boost your confidence. Veneers are also one of the most common ways to fix your damaged teeth and restore the functionality of your smile. You may be a prime candidate to have veneers placed if:
Dental veneers are not only a common procedure when we perform smile makeovers, but they are also known as one of the best options for improving your smile.
Cosmetic Tooth Bonding For An Improved Smile
So bonding is essentially white filling material, which we use on all of our teeth that we restore now as far as fillings go. It's good because it's affordable, number one. You don't have to drill a lot of the teeth down, if you just want me to close a space here, we can bond usually a little bit on each tooth, make it a little bit bigger, wider, longer and create whatever the look is that you're looking for. It comes in hundreds of different shades of white and we can pretty much match it to any tooth, any color and reshape your teeth. The bonding itself is a quick and easy process, we just use a light and a deep cleaner that we put on the tooth and that pretty much helps adhere the bonding to the tooth and then we put it on there and we just polish everything up and make sure it's a nice, smooth transition.
The drawback to it is that it does get stained and discolored a little easier than say porcelain does. It does need to be replaced more often, it's a little weaker than porcelain so if you had a lot of bonding done, it will chip and break off if you bite into something hard and occasionally you'll see that. It'll last for years and years and years but it's just more likely to wear down and break quicker.
A cosmetic bond is performed with a resin material that we paint onto the damaged area and harden with a special light. After the resin material is hardened, it will take on the shape of the tooth as well as the look and color of your natural teeth.
When you have a cosmetic tooth bonding, you will go through three steps. First is the preparation period that consists of Dr. Sean Hanson matching the resin materials color to your natural teeth. Second is prepping your teeth to have cosmetic bond applied. This process includes roughening the teeth to ready them for the application of the resin material that comes directly after. Last is shaping the bonding material to the desired look. After all of these steps are finished, you will have a brand-new smile given to you by Oregon Smile Care Center.
