We moved here because, our old office was just flat out, too small. We didn't have nearly the amount of square footage that we have. We now have eight dental chairs, instead of just five. So, the ability for somebody to call the same day and come in, if it's a broken tooth or an emergency, or a new patient, we don't have to wait to see them for a day, a week, a month. We can see them today. We can see you tomorrow. We can see you on Monday, depending on when you wanted to come in. We've also hired more staff to accommodate the new people that want to come in.
As we were growing, we just realized, we could not put new people in in a timely manner so, that was one of the main reasons that we moved into the new space. The aesthetics are just more calming. The other office wasn't bad, it just had older style, older décor, it was built in the 90's. So, you just have that feel. A lot of people still thought it was very nice, but it wasn't as calming. The colors were more bold, and kind of fit that mid to early 90's décor style, which isn't really me.
We put up with it because, we knew we weren't gonna be there forever. The new office is more me, my wife was able to come in and help us decorate it. It's just homier, it's calming, it's got a nice fireplace, and nice area where you can relax, even if you're not necessarily being seen. If you're bringing somebody, a kid, and older parent, you can relax, read a magazine, have a cup of coffee, and we have bottled water in the office.
For us and for patients, it's just, I think, more calm than the old office was. It's a little bit quieter, it's a little bit bigger so, you're not hearing the drill while you're waiting, which I know a lot of people don't like the sound of that. Then, we have a nice kid's corner, where kids can kind of go and play. We have a magnet wall and some fun stuff for them. So, if you do bring your kids, and maybe only one of them's being seen, the others aren't gonna be driving you crazy, while you're sitting here waiting.
I was at my old dentist for about 12 years before our insurance changed and so I ended up going without any dental care for about a year. Then on the way back home I had a tooth that one of my fillings cracked completely and I got this name as a referral from a friend I worked with. I came down here and the experience was great. People were really nice. It was very easy to set up and since I worked for customer service I kind of look for that. When I come down here and everyone was just really open, told me what to expect, there was nothing hidden. It was the kind of person I could just come in here and just talk to. That's what I like when I go to any places, someone will just talk like I'm personable. That's just how I am. I can go to anywhere and do that myself. So I look for that when I go places and I got that here immediately.
Their new office is very nice definitely. I was going to the one downtown still before they reopened this one. Staff has always been very friendly, very helpful. Again, they just come in here and they're just kind of personable as you're talking to them. It's not just one of those quiet awkward moments that we all hate. So I really think they're just really friendly and really they keep you up to date in where you're at. Every single person I've had an experience with there has been the exact same as far as it goes for being very personable, friendly and just over the top on experience is what I look at.
