Get High-Quality Care from Our General Dentist in Salem, OR
I always knew that I wanted to be in healthcare in some capacity. As I was finishing undergrad, I had a couple of cousins who were in dental school, so they suggested that I go shadow some dentists and figure out what's going on with dentistry, and if it would be a good fit.
So I started shadowing at the Boys & Girls Club, and I remember one day that this kid came in, and he was this 18 year old Eagle Scout kid. Had a lot going for him, but he was just down in the dumps and looking down, and he wasn't feeling good about himself because he had a lot of decay across his smile line. In that one afternoon, the dentist got rid of all the decay, restored his teeth, and when they showed him the mirror, he's just kind of stood up, and he walked out proud and with his head held up high. Having that kind of effect on someone is something that I've always wanted to do since then.
There's a lot that I find rewarding about it. You know, the smile thing that I was talking about with the kid beaming so, and that transformative effect, that's awesome. Getting someone out of pain. You know, that's really rewarding. That actually might be my favorite one.
I'm from Salem like Dr. Hanson. I went to Sprague High School, and then I did my undergrad at the University of Oregon before I moved to Phoenix. I did my master's degree there, and I did my dental school both at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona.
As for continuing education, I firmly believe that I need to continue with learning so that I can be best possible dentist for those who are trusting me to care for them. So I'm constantly going through different classes and whatnot to learn how to be the best dentist I can be.
