Use Veneers To Get Your Photo-Ready Smile

“You oughta be in pictures.”
OK, maybe you don’t have aspirations of starring in a big studio movie or having your name on a theater marquee.
But there may be something that celebrity actors have that you would like to have too — the “Hollywood Smile.”
No matter what you would like to change about your smile, it’s possible thanks to veneers. If you live in or near Salem, OR, then we know just the dentist who can give them to you. All you need to do is call our own Dr. Hanson at Oregon Smile Care Center.
Movie History
Veneers have deeper roots in the movie industry than you may realize. In fact, they were created for the movies.
In 1928, Dr. Charles Pincus was asked to create a set of temporary teeth for an actor to wear during one scene of a movie. We don’t know which movie or whether it was any good, but we do know that it got Dr. Pincus to thinking. How could he provide something similar for everyday use for his patients?
Nine years later, he created a set of veneers out of acrylic that were held in place by denture adhesive. Those … didn’t turn out so great, and the adhesive wasn’t particularly strong.
But it did encourage other people to build on what Dr. Pincus had started.
If we fast forward to today, you can reap the benefit of decades of research and advances in cosmetic dentistry. You can get e.max veneers made of lithium disilicate. They look natural when they are bonded in place, and they are strong and durable enough to last for decades of daily use.
How Can Veneers Help You?
It may actually be easier to list the things that veneers can’t do, but we will focus on some of the more common problems we are able to fix with our e.max veneers.
◆ You Can Straighten Your Smile.
When you look in the mirror, do you see a crooked smile? Maybe you do, but you don’t know if you want to go through the time it would take to straighten your teeth with orthodontic care.
Veneers may be the next best option. You may even find veneers to be a superior option in some ways. Rather than wearing an orthodontic appliance, veneers are bonded to the front of your teeth. When they are in place, your teeth will look like they are perfectly straight.
◆ You Can Correct Spacing Problems With Your Smile.
Do you have a wide gap between two or more of your teeth? Or do you have teeth that look like they have been pressed into one another like there isn’t enough room for all of them to fit?
In either case, veneers can change the appearance of your smile. Your veneers can give you the look of parallel, evenly spaced teeth.
◆ You Can Repair Broken, Chipped, Or Worn Down Teeth.
This is a very common problem in the United States. You may have been hit in the mouth with a ball or an elbow while playing sports years ago or just last week. You may have been involved in an accident that caused you to hit your teeth on the ground, a pole, or a wall.
You may have even chipped your teeth trying to bite into something that was a little harder than you expected. It’s also possible that you wore down your teeth with bad habits like nail biting.
Veneers can make your teeth whole again. In so doing, you can regain a complete smile as well.
◆ You Can Whiten Your Smile.
Teeth whitening is effective if you have stained teeth, but teeth can become yellow or dark for reasons other than staining. You could have a reaction to a medication or your tooth may be discolored as a result of tooth decay.
Veneers will work on stains and all those other problems, too. Your smile can be whiter and brighter with veneers.
◆ You Want To Fix Multiple Problems At The Same Time.
You could fix your yellow and crooked teeth with orthodontics and teeth whitening, or you can use veneers to address both issues simultaneously.
Be Ready For Your Close-Up
You may not be starring in a Hollywood blockbuster this summer, but you probably get more exposure than your realize.
In the age of social media, “selfies” are posted every second on places like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat. You don’t even have to have an account on any of them. If someone you know (friends, children, grandchildren) is online, then your picture could be shared with hundreds or thousands of people in an instant.
