Invisalign: Simple Solution For Straight Smiles

If you asked most people, they would agree that straight teeth make a smile look nicer. Yet, many people do not realize that Invisalign® can give you straight teeth without the brackets and wires that are part of wearing braces.
Invisalign has been around for decades and it has been used to help patients all across the United States. If you are looking for a dentist who offers this service in Salem, OR, then all you have to do is call Oregon Smile Care Center.
Dr. Sean Hanson has been using Invisalign to improve patients’ smiles for years. Call us to make your appointment and find out if Invisalign will work for you.

Get The Most From Your Orthodontic Care
Making the decision to begin orthodontic treatment is an important one. It’s one that you should take seriously, and that’s why where you go for your treatment can be as important as the treatment you receive.
Dr. Hanson can show you what he has done. If you look through our smile gallery, you will see examples of teeth that have been straightened in our office.
And like Dr. Hanson, Invisalign has proven itself to be good at what it’s here to do.

How Invisalign Is Similar To Braces
The results are the most important thing in your orthodontic care.
You know that traditional braces will straighten teeth. More than likely, you know more than one person who has complete treatment with braces, and today they have smiles that are much nicer as a result.
For many patients, Invisalign can produce results that are just as good.
If you have an overbite or an underbite, Invisalign can realign your teeth.
If you have crossbites or open bites, Invisalign can move your teeth where you would like them to be.
If you have gaps between your teeth or crowded teeth, Invisalign can give you an evenly spaced smile.
And if you have teeth that came in crooked, Invisalign can get them in line.
We do want to be clear. Invisalign will not work for every person, but you may be surprised to learn how much this treatment can do, especially when your treatment is guided by someone like our Dr. Hanson.

How Invisalign Is Different From Braces
Let’s start with the most obvious difference.
Brackets use a system of brackets and wires (and sometimes rubber bands) to push and pull your teeth in the directions they need to go. Your braces need to be adjusted regularly to keep your teeth moving where you want them to be.
Invisalign used aligners, which are sort of like mouthguards worn by athletes. They fit over your teeth and can be removed as needed. The aligners gently push your teeth where you want the to go, and you will change aligners every few weeks.
With braces, your brackets and wires will be noticeable for the two years or more than you may be wearing them.
On the other hand, Invisalign aligners are made of clear plastic, which means you can wear them in professional and social settings, and most people won’t notice that you have them on. Many patients, particularly adults, consider this to be one of Invisalign’s most important advantages over braces.
We mentioned that you can remove your aligners as needed. You do need to wear them for at least 22 hours per day during your treatment. However, you can and should remove them to eat and when you are brushing and flossing your teeth.
That means you won’t have to give up any foods that you enjoy like you may need to if you have braces. You also won’t have to get special tools or learn new ways to clean your teeth.

Save Time On Your Treatment
The average treatment with braces takes about two years.
The average treatment with Invisalign take about 12 months, but for some patients, even that is longer than they want to spend wearing the aligners.
If you come to Oregon Smile Care Center, Dr. Hanson can help with that, too. We offer AcceleDent to speed up the treatment process. AcceleDent is pulsing device that can cut your treatment time in half when used in conjunction with Invisalign.
